Green Light: Why God Wants You to Move, Not Wait for Certainty

Stuck at a Green Light

So many of us know what God has called us to do. He's given us at least one or two steps. But we stay stuck, waiting for something we can't quite name. Pastor Drew shared this week that God showed him he was doing the same thing, sitting at a red light he'd created himself, even while taking real steps of faith, because shame and fear were still riding along in the car. In Exodus 3, God calls Moses without handing him a full plan. He just says go, and promises "I will be with you." When Pastor Drew asked God for direction, God answered, "I can't steer parked cars." The green light was already on. The invitation was just to drive.

The Trap of Certainty

If shame teaches us to hide, certainty is often what we hide behind. We pray about a decision, then pray again, then look for confirmation, then look for confirmation about the confirmation. But certainty is more elusive than we want to admit, and waiting on God is not the same thing as waiting to feel 1000% sure. Look at who God actually called. Abraham got "go to the land I will show you," no map, no itinerary. Peter got one word from Jesus on the water: "come." Joshua didn't get the battle plan up front, just "cross the Jordan." God gave the next step, then led as they went.

Learning to Walk Means Learning to Wobble

A baby doesn't learn to walk by studying walking. They learn by standing up, wobbling, and falling, over and over, until their legs get strong. It's the same with anything God calls us into. He isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for relationship, for a willingness to take His hand and step out even when it's messy. Success isn't walking a straight line. It's celebrating the wobble as part of the journey with Him. Stop asking if you're really the person God says you are, and take the step. Let Him do the rest.
